Friday Photo Flashback, Follow Friday and ALOHA Friday!

Alicia at More than Words started "Friday Photo Flashback". I'm having a blast & you can too! Dig out your photo album! Don't forget to sign up so we can all visit and comment on each others pics/blogs! IT'S GREAT FUN!

Short amazing story for you.  My mother passed in 2006, and my daughter said, "Mom, you really should put together a family tree for me & the kids so we don't forget our heritage, and before no one is around to ask any questions".  So, I started one on paper & that just got confusing so I went to Ancestry.com.  To shorten this story some I got an e-mail through Ancestry.com from a cousin I never met.  One thing lead to another and she filled in some questions I had & added stuff she knew and we swapped pictures, and stories I've never heard or seen and vice-versa.  It's been fun.  These two fine ladies are my Great Aunts on my father's side.  They were my Great-Grandmother's sisters.
My Great Aunt Carrie 1865 - 1944 (Denmark)

My Great Aunt Emma 1868 -1900 (Wisc.)

SEA PAK UNITES WITH BYRON'S!

Standing up because he's on his way to get another one!  He says, 'Tasty"!
Okay, my friends you would think I never fed my family by looking at all these mouths!  I can't wait to tell you about it.  In fact, let me show you.  Action speaks louder than words as they say & no one was speaking either!
And it smells fabulous!
Since 1957, Byron's Pork has hand-pulled, hickory smoked pork BBQ has been slow cooked for that down-home taste. We definitely enjoyed the restaurant-quality flavor of Byron's Fully Cooked Pork BBQ!  Just look at all these hungry mouths.

That's one! Yummm

Naturally, I saved the best for last.  Do actions speak louder than words?

And doesn't these two look like some great left-overs?  You see, both SeaPak and Byron’s are owned by the same parent company, but they are two different brands and I totally love them both and so does my family.

Layered BBQ Salad
Serves 8

Layered BBQ Sundae_Tablecloth_Cropped3 cups Byron’s Fully Cooked Pork BBQ, warmed according to package directions
1 can baked beans
2 cups colorful coleslaw
1 bag (10 ounces) frozen whole kernel corn, thawed
2 cups green bell pepper, diced
Pickled okra for garnish

Heat baked beans on the stove on medium heat until warm (about 5 minutes), stirring occasionally. Layer bottom of a serving dish with the heated baked beans, followed by an even layer of corn kernels and then a layer of green bell peppers. Place an even layer of BBQ on top of the bell peppers, followed by the coleslaw. Place pickled okra on top for garnish.

Cancer is so uncool! WORDFUL WEDNESDAY!

Happy Wordful Wednesday is a great day to post a picture that “speaks” for itself, no words needed OVER AT JAVA'S! So, I've found a new home for Wednesday, and I blog-hop all day long looking at great pics! How about you?

SQUAMOUS CELL

My husband HAD a Cancerous mole on his neck.  We just came home from the hospital, and... well let me back track just a bit.  Whenever we go on vacations Dave loves roller coasters.  Remember this one?  See above.  He's out from morning until night in the sun.  Plus he's a truck driver, so left side of his face & the arm out the window & left leg in the sun all day.  David had a very good friend, Gary.  He was at a family party & his brother (a doctor) said he should get this funny looking mole on his back checked out.  Three months later our dear friend died of skin cancer (Melanoma).  It was because of that story Dave went to see the doctor & got a biopsy taken on this brown spot on his neck, and I thank the Lord that he did.

It turned out to be squamous cell (in-carcinoma).  Squamous cell skin cancer is a type of tumor that affects the skin. Cancer - skin - squamous cell; Skin cancer - squamous cell Squamous cell cancer results when cells in the ...

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC or SqCC), occasionally rendered as "squamous-cell carcinoma", is a histologically-distinct form of cancer. It arises from the uncontrolled multiplication of transformed malignant cells showing squamous differentiation and tissue architecture. Squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common cancers, and frequently forms in a large number of body tissues and organs, including skin, lips, mouth, esophagus, urinary bladder, prostate, lung, vagina, and cervix, among others. Despite the common name, squamous cell carcinomas often show large differences, depending on where they develop, in their presentation, natural history, prognosis, and response to treatment. (from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
Yes, it was Cancer, but not the bad kind that kills you it rarely spreads, but if you don't do anything about it it could kill you.  They ordered a complete x-cision of the mole, which they did today.  Dave is fine, but my nerves are frazzled.  My prayers were answered when the doctor said he got it 100%.  So my friends supposedly this all starts when you're young, and being in the sun too long.  So, when we go out we're going to get him a hat and sunscreen.  David is my world, and he's changed a very dismal life into one happy and loving life for me.  If your husband's work makes him an outdoor man show this too him and be cautious.
Do it because you care, and I've shared the news with you because...  I care!

JUST A SILLY OL' BEAR wishes you HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

So, Happy Independence Day Dudes & Dudettes!
HAVE FUN, DON'T EAT TOO MUCH AND BE SAFE!!
In honor of Winnie the Pooh returning to theatres on July 15th, Walt Disney Animation Studios has provided us with an exclusive Independence Day Image of our favorite Silly Old Bear!

All I know is my son, and his daughters totally love our little bear, Winnie the Pooh!  He's been around our home for at least 30 yrs.  My son played with him, ate with him, and slept with him.  From a stuffed bear to Pooh clothes, toys, dishes, and much more.  He has passed Pooh down to his daughters now, and they do just about the same thing.  I guess I know where NaNee will be on the 15th.  We have an IMAX theater right by my house so we'll be sitting right up in the balcony watching their favorite character, "WINNIE THE POOH"!
ABOUT THE MOVIE
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh.” Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail.  “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh.  Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey. Inspired by three stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theatres on July 15th!
