"A CHRISTMAS CAROL" POP-UP-BOOK!

A Christmas Carol

*Pop-Up Book
So, shall we get started, and tell my most favorite Christmas Story, "A Christmas Carol".  To my young grandchildren we must rearrange the story just a tad where it's interesting for them too.  So, they came up with this Pop-Up-Book!

As you can see my grandchildren just love this book.  There was so much to see instead of me just rattling off words they actually had something to interact with.  The story came on these smaller books that slide in a pocket on each page.  The first book: The Enduring Appeal of "A Christmas Carol", which gives a detailed description.  Also, The life of Charles Dickens.  It's simply grand to know these little tidbits about the author I never knew before.

The second book goes on to tell the story, and starts out with, "Marley's Ghost", and I believe you know where the story goes from there.  Each page has another book to read from as the story goes on. When my grandchildren left I couldn't wait to run in my room, and really read the story word for word in full 3D fashion with my book.  Yes, I said my book.  Something that only NaNee has to read to her babies!  They loved it, and kept them so entertained.  I guess that's my cue to say, "God bless us, Every One!"

Now if this is a must have book as it was for me you can now obtain it at the following website:

Hachette book detail page: http://www.hachettebookgroup.com/books_9780316039734.htm

Also, at this website below is a must have inter-active book for your I-Pad.  Check it out!  It's awesome.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Turkey Recipe

I thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient -- imagine that.
When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.

8 - 15 lb. turkey
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good)
1 cup un-popped popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT IS BEST) Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt, and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn.

Place in baking pan making sure the neck end is toward the front of the oven, not the back.

After about 4 hours listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room,.... it's done.

And, you thought I didn't cook...

===================================================
Below are ideas from SeaPak Shrimp Company,  Casa Di Bertacchi Meatballs, Byron’s BBQ and French Meadow BakeryThese are leading brands and are well known for their high quality products and affordable prices.

Move Over Turkey:  Awesome Side Dishes using Shrimp and Meatballs!
While the turkey or ham may be the focus of the holiday table, it is the side dishes that bring comfort and warmth to the table.  Shrimp Stuffing is the perfect way to create a savory side dish in a flash. When the feasting is finished and the refrigerator is restocked with delicious leftovers, the Fall Cranberry Wrap from Casa Di Bertacchi meatballs will turn leftover cranberries and apples into a refreshingly different type of day-after meal.

Break out of The Cheese and Cracker Box…Try Barbecue Instead!
For an annual get-together or holiday soiree, the BBQ Tartlets are a tasty treat that breaks the cheese-and-crackers appetizer mold. Simple to prepare and easy on the wallet, they are sure to be one of the first dishes gone.

Celebrate the Season at Breakfast, Too!
When the wrapping paper is cleared away and the kids are outside playing, one of the most peaceful times to enjoy the season is breakfast. Crab Quiche served with a side of Gluten-Free French Toast Casserole is makes waking up in the morning something to look forward to.

From our home to yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving and I am so thankful for all of you!

Mediterranean Chicken By Good Earth

General Mills sent me a box of this Mediterranean Chicken with angel hair pasta!  Mmmmm I says!  Sounds interesting let's see what we can do with this.  100% Whole Grain Angel Hair Pasta, creamy sauce with Olive Oil (okay, they're talking my language here), Mediterranean Seasoning and Seasoned Whole Wheat Flour.  Just add chicken.  Hmmmm...  General Mills’ new Restaurant Favorites® Good Earth™ dinner kits.  Look at this I can prepare a delicious restaurant-quality entree right here in my own kitchen.  No preservatives or artificial flavors (of course I added just a tad more fresh garlic), and 100 percent whole grain pasta or maybe I'll use brown rice, and all in less then 30 minutes.  What do you say we try it!

So, here's what I did.  I had these thin sliced breast of chicken, and I breaded mine.  Sauce is cooking.  Okay what's next?  Hmmm, Serve Chicken and Sauce over Pasta.  Sounds simple enough to me.
Out of the pan, into the dish.  Looking goooooood!  Smells Good!  This meal is so simple to make, and very reasonable.  The chicken cost about two dollars and some change!  Restaurant Favorites Good Earth dinner kits is now available in the dry dinners aisle of your local grocery store.

Suggested Retail Price: Each Restaurant Favorites Good Earth dinner kit has a suggested retail price of $4.79.
And now, a little drum roll please!  The FINALE!!!

DINNER FOR TWO - JUST ME AND YOU!
AM I A GOOD COOK OR WHAT?!!

WHAT ARE YOU MAKING TONIGHT?
Restaurant Favorites Good Earth entrees are available in four great-tasting varieties: Mediterranean Chicken with Whole Grain Angel Hair Pasta, Tuscan Chicken with Whole Grain Penne Pasta, Spicy Citrus Glazed Shrimp with Whole Grain Angel Hair Pasta and Herb Crusted Chicken with Risotto.

"The Magic Warble" Review/Giveaway

Escape to a world of fantasy, thrilling adventure, and magic warms the heart!

The Magic Warble
 by Victoria Simcox
Published by Two Harbors Press
ISBN 978-1-935097 17-4

At the request of the author, Victoria Simcox, I received said paperback,  but larger than usual paperback; it was also sent to me at no charge for my honest opinion.
Synopsis:

Dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and an evil queen – all these and more can be found in The Magic Warble, an enchanting tale of adventure and friendship.

Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. The kids all tease her, and she never seems to fit in. But when Kristina receives an unusual Christmas gift, she suddenly finds herself magically transported to the land of Bernovem, home of dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and the evil Queen Sentiz.

In Bernovem, Kristina not only fits in, she’s honored as “the chosen one” the only one who can release the land from Queen Sentiz’s control. But it’s not as simple as it seems. To save Bernovem, she must place the gift she was given, the famous “Magic Warble” in its final resting place. And she must travel through the deep forest, climb a treacherous mountain, and risk capture by the queen’s “zelbocks” before she reaches her destination. Guided by her new fairy friends, Clover and Looper and by Prince Werrien, a teenage boy, as well as an assortment of other characters, Kristina sets off on a perilous journey that not only tests her strength but her heart.

MY THOUGHTS and OPINION

I was amazed when I requested to review this book because I am not an avid reader to be quite honest with you.  Therefore, I felt not being one, this book should and will get a very honest opinion.  When Victoria Simcox wrote to me and stated she would be thrilled if I would review her book I felt obligated at first, but now I am more honored that she chose me.  In reading the brief synopsis of this book it was about all the things that I knew would interest me, and keep me awake (reading puts me to sleep).   I have been interested in fairy tales and mythology all my life, but this book was different.  I started to read about Kristina, a child who is a bit of a loner, and many a times went off into her own world.  I was the same way as a child so I started relating from the very beginning.  Then she had a teacher who recognized her quality within, and gave her the mystical task of returning the The Magic Warble.  As I read this story it became more of a place that I could go to, and forget about reality, and hide within the realm of the author's fantasy.  The author had a way to pull you in with emotional thoughts, and heartwarming scenes, but yet keep you on the edge of your chair.   At times they were a bit complex, but as you read on you were back in a comfort zone smiling and giggling at the author's whimsical way of explaining a scene.

You all know me, and I would just like to insert here that I would like to thank this author from the bottom of my heart for opening a whole new world to me.  I have medical problems that cause pain from time to time, but when I sat to read this book I felt like Alice in Wonderland falling into a deep black hole and winding up in Bernovem without the pain.   I walked where Kristina walked and saw what she saw, and felt warmth of friendship when she felt the warmth.   I highly recommend this story to children of all ages.  I myself will be giving this book to my granddaughter who is going through some trying times right now, and I believe it'll pull her out of it as it did me.  Yes, this author has a very talented gift that she wants to share with all of us, and she shared with me a new life in the world of books to take me from the sorrow, and pain of reality.  Thank you Vicki may the world treat you with as much patience, and kindness as you have afforded us.

The book also came with a Magic Warble book-marker as an extra gift, and a lime green bracelet that says "The Magic Warble". I know my granddaughter will wear it with pride.  She's an honor roll student, and books is definitely her passion.  Ms. Simcox also personally autographed it for her, which will definitely put a smile on her face to have a "for real author" as she put it sign the book.  We'll also be able to talk about it together, which will give us something in common to relate too.  If you have something you need to get off your mind, and want to relax in a different realm then what you're use too I highly recommend this book.  I personally cannot wait to see if there is going to be a Part II because I'm going to be first in line.  This book was highly entertaining in a sense that you could actually feel like you were watching a movie.  The author definitely has a way with words to hold your interest, and I hated to put the book down when I had to stop for a moment for the real world's chores.  Many a time I thought oh this might happen next or that was going to happen next, and I was always wrong.  What a vivid imagination of a parallel universe, and experience of literature.  Many times I was in awe at such a turn in the story, and never would've though it would lead to such a fabulous end.  Did you ever read a book or see a movie that you said, "Oh, it should have ended this way or that".  Not this story!  They should definitely make a movie out of it.  Personally, I think Tim Burton should be introduced to this story.

The pictures in the book only added to the indebtedness of the story.  Nothing elaborate to take away from the book itself.  They were a perfect addition.
Christmas would be a great way to open up a new world for your child or relative/friend.  Stocking stuffer?  Definitely.  Birthday present?  Of course.  Just because you care?  Most assuredly.  This holiday season pick up a copy of The Magic Warble, and give it to Santa.  He knows a lot of people, and children that could use a break from the real world, and put a smile on everyone's face.

    SOLD AT:
The Magic Warble site or Amazon.com is the place to purchase this wonderful book!
