The Shard will be free 9/26 ~ 9/30 on Amazon

The Shard will be free 9/26 ~ 9/30 on

The Shard, Victoria Simcox’s fast-paced, intricately woven sequel to The Warble, takes Kristina Kingsly and her schoolmates back to Bernovem … and into a thrilling, often dangerous adventure.

Kristina’s stay at summer horse camp is horrible to say the least, and it’s all because Hester and Davina are there as well, making her life miserable. When Hester’s cruel prank goes terribly wrong, it’s actually what sends the three girls back to the magical land of Bernovem. In Bernovem, Kristina is very excited to see her former friend, Prince Werrien. When he invites her to sail with him on his ship to his homeland Tezerel, putting it simply, Kristina can’t refuse.

Reunited with her gnome, dwarf, animal, fairy friends … and best of all, Werrien, things seem like they couldn’t get any better for Kristina. But when Werrien becomes fascinated with an unusual seeing stone, the “Black Shard”, Kristina is haunted by a ghostlike old hag. Struggling against suspicion, guilt, illness, and ultimately the one who wants to possess her soul, Kristina will see it’s in her weakest moment that she will encounter more strength than she has ever known.

Amazing uses for Vinegar! HOLY COW!

So what are these amazing uses for vinegar I’m talking about? Keep reading.

1. Get rid of fruit flies.

I hate fruit flies.  They're annoying little buggers! Found a method that works. Pour 1/2 – 3/4 cup vinegar into a bowl. Cut a piece of plastic wrap and place it tightly over the bowl. Poke a few holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick and set on the counter. And that’s it. A cheap, easy, and wonderful fruit fly trap.

2. Clean the shelves and walls of your refrigerator.

My Mom use to say if the top of your refrigerator was clean you're a clean housekeeper. To clean the walls and shelves of a fridge, make a half-and-half solution of vinegar and water.

3. Get a permanent marker stain out of furniture.

First, take each stained cushion, unzip it, and take off the cover (a.k.a. the stained part). In a medium bowl, create a solution of vinegar to water: 2 cups vinegar to 3/4 cup water. Get a white rag or kitchen towel, place it in the solution, wring it out, and start scrubbing the stains. You may want to do this at a table with a plastic tablecloth on top. Redip the cloth in the solution as needed. You might end up not using all of the vinegar/water solution, and that’s fine. See #7.

4. Wipe down your sink with it.

A stainless-steel sink could always use a little shine. Simply pour a tablespoon of vinegar on a sponge or rag and wipe down your sink. You could pay for a commercial sink shiner, but why?

5. Add it to your washing machine for cleaner laundry!

During the last rinse of the load, add about 1/4 cup vinegar. It can whiten whites, act as a fabric softener and reduce static cling.

6. Keep cats out of the sandbox.

Just pour a few cups of vinegar over the sand, let it dry, and now you no longer have cats trying to use the bathroom in your child’s sandbox! :)

7. Deodorize your drain.

After a while of food pieces going down the drain, you may start to notice a…smell…coming from the drain. Don’t worry—it’s an easy fix. Just pour 1/2 cup vinegar down the drain (you can add some lemon juice too if you want) and voila!, you’re free from an eventual embarrassing smell. You can use leftover solution from #3 if you would like.

8. Remove berry stains from your hands.

If you get into summer berry picking as much as I do, then you’re probably as red-handed as the two-year-old who drew all over the couch. Get rid of berry stains easily by simply rubbing your hands with vinegar.

9. Clean your hair brushes.

After a while, your brushes can build up a good bit of grime, sweat, and soap. Soak your brushes in vinegar for 1 hour and rinse with hot water to get them as clean as when you bought them.

10. Loosen chewing gum stuck to a carpet.

It happens to everyone. Or almost everyone. But if it’s happened to you, you know it’s not fun. Pour about a tablespoon of vinegar on top of and around the gum, let it soak for a little while, and scrape it up.

11. Use it as conditioner.

I do it all the time when I’m out of conditioner. Just dilute 1/2 cup vinegar in two cups warm water and use it like you would conditioner. Some people don’t like to do it because they think they’ll smell like a salad bar, but I like to add essential oils to the solution to make it smell nice.

12. Wipe down your counters and stove with it.

Vinegar makes a great cleaner. Pour some in a spray bottle (I like to get mine from the dollar store), and spray away. You can wipe it down with a kitchen rag or sponge, but it helps to loosen sticky foods like molasses and shines counter tops and stoves.

The Last Party of the Season from the Heathens!!!

That was too much fun!!!

Raw ONION on bottom of the feet to take away illness

I saw this on Facebook, and I've decided to share it.  Credit to... Andreea Zoia thank you!
''During the night, I started feeling good. I mean really good! I felt tingly, like my blood was being cleansed (it was). It was so cool!  My bedroom smells like a casserole, but it was totally worth it!
***Here is the deal:
So last night Evan (11) was keeping everyone awake with his cough. I got up, went to the kitchen and sliced a purple, make me cry onion, at 3:00 a.m. I got some snug socks and put it on the bottom of his feet. To boost my own immunity, I decided to try this too. During the rest of the night, I started feeling good. I mean really good! I felt tingly, like my blood was being cleansed. It was so cool!
This works in 2 ways:
1.) Onions are known to absorb toxins. In fact, during the days of the Plague in England, folks would keep chopped onions around to absorb toxins and clean the air. This helped protect them, against getting the plague.
NEVER SAVE AN ONION. It will absorb all the toxins in the air of your refrigerator. Eat that and you eat the toxins. Instead: Chop your left over onion, put it on a plate and keep it in your kitchen as a natural air purifier. I do this all the time! If someone is ill, place a chopped onion on the night stand, next to the bed. They'll be better in the morning. I placed the remaining onion, next to Evan last night.
Onions are toxin absorbers. Thus why they are great internal mops for the body. Eat plenty of onions!
2.) The onion and garlic families are anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. Placing them on the bottom of the foot gives them access to your internal organs through meridians in your body. The onion can be directly delivered. Trans-dermal delivery (on the skin) is one of the best delivery mechanisms, as it will bypass the stomach acids and go directly into the blood. The bottom of the feet and the forearm are great places to put high powered foods and essential oils into the body. Sliced garlic on the bottom of the feet will work nicely too.''

Evidently she found this information here.  Hope it works for anyone who needs it.  :)

"We Ain't Right"! Hubby's New Band!

This is the new band my husband has joined called the "We ain't right", band.  Aren't they just special?  Yes, they are a biker band.  One of the reasons this picture was taken is...

there was a professional photographer there taking pictures, and doing an interview for the DuPage County Chronicle for the upcoming Toys for Tots goings on at the VFW in Batavia, which the band shall be playing for, and starting out the ride!  No, my husband does not ride.  When I first met Dave back in 1991 he had a bike, and was hit by a pick-up truck as the truck turned the corner, and didn't see Dave.  The accident was bad and he was put in a coma.  One of the biggest injuries (to him) was that his right wrist was broken, which meant he could not play the guitar.  :(   Dave woke up on his birthday in May believe or not, and he had the biggest migraine ever is what he tells me, and the next thing you know the nurses were not coming in with even an aspirin, and he called his Mom to come, and get him, and she took her baby home with her.  You see they're Christian Scientists, and if you know anything about this religion they do not believe in doctors because as my bff tells me, "God does not make no junk"!  Anyway, long story short Dave recovered, we met in July and the rest is history.  So, Dave does not have any desire to ride a bike any time soon!

So, this is just a little update on my husband's musical career!  Thanks for stopping by!  :)
