WEIGHT BE GONE! Have you checked your body lately?

Hi Everyone! This is my Weight Be Gone Thursday. If you would like to follow me in my journey you are welcome, and if you'd like to share your own journey feel free to leave your link in a comment and  I'll come visit you, and read your story too! (For the past month I've had a linky, but guess no one else is on a diet lol).

My journey starts due to the reality of life's threats in that I have much to do & want to stick around to do it.
Okay, today I am 245.8. Not much change from last week, but my back & down hates me.  Now I  have been conversing with my doctor and his nurse lately and here is the latest:

Marie
I apologize for the delay. There were several issues that needed to be addressed and clarified by the insurance company and they took their sweet time getting back to me.  Basically Humana will cover bariatric, weight loss, surgery for you as your BMI is above 40. They will only cover the sleeve procedure if your BMI is above 50 which yours is not.  They do require a psychiatric evaluation before surgery to be sure that there are no psychological issues that would cause problems after surgery. I would recommend that you make an appointment in our Psychiatry dept to get this evaluation. I will put in a referral for you to see a surgeon to discuss the bariatric surgeon. Humana requires that you see a "Humana Center of Excellence" for this. Lifeweigh Bariatrics is a center of excellence and they are the group that I send patients to so I would recommend them. If you woul dprefer to see someone else let me know and I can check, quickly this time, to see if they are a center of excellence.
MY DOCTOR - MD  (1ST NOTE)

2ND NOTE AFTER I QUESTIONED THE 1ST NOTE:
Humana will only cover the "sleeve" procedure if your BMI is &50 but will cover other forms of bariatric surgery, ie lap band, gastric bypass, with a BMI&35 Lifeweigh will evaluate you for these other options and the Psychiatry eval is required for any of the procedures. Sorry I wasn't clear on this in my previous message.  MY DOCTOR - MD

So, what it is if I didn't lose the 38 lbs my insurance would've paid for the operation I wanted!  Now instead I have to do it their way!  Hubby & I are going to talk & we'll let you know the decision next week!  For now here's a few health tips I found for us!!!

10 Self-Checks Women Should Do Every Morning

If the only time you zoom in on your anatomy is when you're tweezing your unibrow or popping a zit, then you could be missing out on some crucial information about your health.

One of the many wonderful things about your body is that it has built-in sickness sensors, and experts say you can spot early warning signs of even serious conditions simply by taking a few minutes to bond with the image in the mirror.

So go ahead, take a closer look. In the immortal words of Ice Cube: It's time to check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Guide to Your Yucky Bodily Functions

Your Nails
If you see dark lines on the nail beds
It could mean Texas-sized moles aren't the only red flags for skin cancer--the disease can also develop under your nails. Yellowish, brown, or black stripes are a sign of cell damage, possibly from melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, says Ariel Ostad, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City.

With early detection and treatment, though, about 95 percent of cases are curable, so have your dermatologist take a second look.

10 Best Foods for Perfect Skin

If you see bright white stripes

It could mean everyone gets white spots on their nails from time to time (usually it's a sign that you banged your finger in a drawer), but If you see long horizontal bands of discoloration on the nail's surface and you've been feeling fatigued lately, it could be bad news for your kidneys.

"These bands can be a signal that the kidneys aren't able to filter out protein from your urine," Ostad says. That means your body is losing protein faster than you can shovel in filet mignon--and that can lead to kidney failure. Visit your doctor ASAP for a urine test.

10 Supplements Every Woman Needs

Your Armpits
If you see a patch of rough, dark skin
It could mean Unless you've been going overboard with the self-tanner, you could have diabetes, says Michael Smith, M.D., WebMD's chief medical editor. Excess insulin in your bloodstream can cause skin cells to multiply abnormally fast, leading to a buildup of tissue and melanin.

This makes the skin look darker and feel thicker. "It most commonly occurs in the armpits, neck, or groin," Smith says. A simple blood test can determine whether you have the disease, which affects about 24 million Americans--nearly a quarter of whom are undiagnosed.

The Scary New Health Trend: Young, Slim, and Diabetic

Your Eyelids, Knees, And Elbows
If you see small, soft lumps that look white or waxy
It could mean the good news: It's not a zit. The bad news: These are small deposits of cholesterol, Smith says.

Unfortunately, "by the time they appear, your cholesterol levels are probably sky high; this is a serious risk factor for heart disease." Yet reducing your numbers by just 10 percent slashes that risk by as much as a third.  See your doctor for a cholesterol check, and ask her about lifestyle changes or prescription drugs that can get your levels down.

12 Ways to Reduce Your Disease Risk, Starting Now

Your Scalp
If you see thinning hair It could mean could you fashion one of Britney's weaves out of the hair clogging your drain? Excessive hair loss is a common indicator of a thyroid disorder, which affects about 10 percent of American women. When your thyroid (a gland in the middle of your neck) is out of whack, it can disrupt the balance of male and female sex hormones. The result: More strands in your brush and hair that feels coarse and brittle, says Sandra Fryhofer, M.D., a physician in private practice in Atlanta.

Your doc can measure the amount of thyroid-stimulating hormone in your blood--if you have too much or too little, you'll need medication to regulate it.

If you see your scalp shedding like a snake
It could mean If skin flakes have suddenly made your shoulders look like the Alps in February, it could be due to your to-do list. "An intense load of stress causes your body to produce excess amounts of the hormone cortisol," Ostad says. "In addition to wreaking havoc on your immune system (making you more vulnerable to colds) and your metabolism (making you pack on pounds), cortisol can also dry out your scalp."  A drugstore dandruff shampoo will deflake your locks, but unless you want a permanent case of shoulder snow, try to get more sleep, breathe more deeply, and loosen up your overpacked schedule.

Eat Your Way to Healthier Hair

Your Belly -  If you see thick, dark hair (or stubble) in a diamond shape
It could mean is that forest sprouting on your abs thick enough to hide a family of hobbits? Dense, coarse hair that extends up toward your belly button (rather than growing downward from the top of the pubic bone) could be a sign of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), says Pamela Berens, M.D., an ob-gyn at the University of Texas Medical School.

Caused by overproduction of androgens, the condition can lead to irregular or heavy periods, weight gain, acne, and thick, dark hair on the belly, face, chest, and back. As many as one in 10 women have PCOS, which can be a risk factor for serious problems like infertility and heart disease.
If you have symptoms, see your ob-gyn; she might prescribe birth control pills to get your hormones back in check.

Try This 15-Minute Belly-Blasting Workout

Your Tongue -
If you see a white, yellow, or orange coating It could mean if your licker looks as if someone painted it with bright-colored gunk, you could be spilling your gut in your sleep, Fryhofer says. Normally, a one-way valve at the bottom of the esophagus makes sure that whatever goes down doesn't come back up. Acid reflux occurs when this valve opens spontaneously and the contents of your stomach make a break for your throat, leaving your tongue coated in digestive acids and you with a serious case of Godzilla breath.

Most reflux can be treated with OTC antacids or simply by avoiding acidic and spicy foods; if those measures don't work, see your doctor. You may need prescription meds to reduce your body's production of stomach acid.

Your Eyes - If you see undereye circles that won't go away
It could mean unless you've taken a second job at the midnight trucking radio network, a sudden onset of dark rings could be chalked up to allergies. The chain reaction, according to Ostad, goes like this: An allergen hits your body, which in response releases histamine; this chemical makes blood vessels swell with blood and other fluids, and voila: Dark patches show up where the skin is thinnest.  A skin test can determine which allergen is causing your symptoms.

What Your Eyes Say About Your Health

If you see a yellowish bump on your eyeball
It could mean no, you haven't developed a rare case of optic acne. Instead, a slightly raised nodule on the white of your eye is a symptom of a harmless condition called pinguecula. "It's nothing more than an overgrowth of collagen triggered by damage from sun, wind, or dust," says Traci Goldstein, an optometrist at Metropolitan Vision Correction Associates in New York City.  Keep your eyes moist with lubricating drops and don shades anytime you're outdoors (make sure your specs offer 100 percent protection against UVA and UVB rays) to prevent the bump from growing larger.

WEIGHT BE GONE & a Recipe with Pampered Chef

Hi Everyone! This is my Weight Be Gone Thursday. If you would like to follow me in my journey you are welcome, and if you'd like to share your own journey feel free to sign my linky below, and I'll come visit you, and read your story too! If you have a great diet recipe you would like to share I'd appreciate it very much.

The reason I've started my journey is I had a rude awakening to the reality of life's threats in that if I still wanted to lead a fun, and somewhat of a meaningful happy life I had to make some serious changes.

Okay, weighed today, and I am 247.8. Not much change from last week, but due to my back totally not cooperating with me (I believe my shots have worn off), plus my Aunt Mitzi is back in the hospital, so I've been missing some exercising days, and I went out to lunch with my cousin for her birthday yesterday and cheated.  So NOT GOOD!  But back on the wagon today.  Coffee and fruit for breakfast.  Salad for lunch and I'm making a salad for supper but with veggies and strips of chicken in it.  I have not heard from my doctor yet about that procedure so no update there.  Below you will find a recipe I thought I'd share with you that my cousin Sandy sent me.  Enjoy!  I haven't tried it, but it does look pretty good.  I'd say something you'd make for a party, and if you want to share your own story jump on my linky scale and I'll come down and visit you and anyone else on my linky can do the same.

Now this recipe is from my cousin. Pampered Chef...http://www.pamperedchef.biz/sandyj5

WEIGHT BE GONE!

Okay, weighed in last Friday, and I was down to 248.4.  Now before I go any further I want to remind every one once again that I started at 282 I believe it was give or take a lb., and depression wasn't the word.  It was beyond that.   So, let me tell you this is all poundage because as far as tonsils, ovaries, gallbladder, appendix yep, ALL GONE.

God works in mysterious ways.  He also so fit that I should not have Nutri System give a helping hand here.  That's right they said, "NO"!  But it's okay because I'm going to do this by myself.  In fact, I would like to lose a pound a day until my party.  My party is September 8th so that's lets see 19 + 8 lbs = 27 lbs.  Okay, think I can do it???  Let's give it a whirl, and see what happens.  I can do this buy myself (I hope).
So any ideas anybody???  I'm going to keep up the health club and on the days I don't go there it'll be walking around the park with "Baby".  So until next time.  Let me give you a 'BEFORE" picture, and in 30 days I'll give you an after.
Pretty shameful, and it makes me wanna cry!  Even my Aunt is thinner than I.  So in almost one month from today you'll get another picture, an after and I  hope to God it's better than this one.  (This was taken last summer I think).

The Health and Wellness Center I'm doing 10, 10, and 10 of biceps, triceps, and push/abdomens.  Besides walking around once hopefully 2 more weeks we up everything.  Oh and I'm doing this bike think with handles, and I'm told it's like jogging! HA!  I couldn't jog when I was healthy LMAO.  Weighed in today 244.2 lbs. hmmmm I hope I lose 7 lbs. by the time we talk again, and yes I know now that I'm working out I might gain because of muscle weight.  Hmmmmm  That's pretty dam unfair.  Okay linky below for anyone who wants to share recipes, their diet story or whatever.  Thanks and  have a great day.

WEIGHT BE GONE!

Okay, weighed in this morning at 251 and finally starting to get rid of some of this water. I've had a discussion with the doctor, and I've been thinking about this for a very long time, and he's checking with my insurance company to see if they will cooperate as long as I have a medical opinion that medically I need this operation. So I've done my research, and I'm still waiting to hear from him.

Now, I'm not waiting around I've got my scholarship and heading back to Delnor Health and Wellness Center.  Love this place.  They've got everything.  So yesterday I went for orientation on the machines.  Which ones I should be doing how many, what weight, etc. etc.  Sounds like a plan to me.

Kyle is the very nice man that really knew his business, and helped me so much .  Thanks bunches, dude.  Had a blast learning all the great stuff  you taught me.  You really know you stuff and I learned much.  Thank you.

WEIGHT BE GONE! A "Sleeve Gastrectomy"?

Hi Everyone! This is my Weight Be Gone Thursday. If you would like to follow me in my journey you are welcome, and if you'd like to share your own journey feel free to sign my linky below, and I'll come visit you, and read your story too! If you have a great diet recipe you would like to share I'd appreciate it very much.

The reason I've started my journey is I had a rude awakening to the reality of life's threats in that if I still wanted to lead a fun, and somewhat of a meaningful happy life I had to make  some serious changes.

Okay, weighed in this morning at 253 and finally starting to get rid of some of this water.  I've had a discussion with the doctor, and I've been thinking about this for a very long time, and he's checking with my insurance company to see if they will cooperate as long as I have a medical opinion that medically I need this operation.  Sooooooooooooooooo  I've done my research, and here's what I've come up with.

Number one, I've lost weight, but slowly and up & down.  I diet, but no exercise due to my Spinal Stenosis going out of whack!  Now, there's something called a "Sleeve Gastrectomy"! This lady I spoke with lost 160 lbs. by doing it, and not only is she pain free, but she's still losing and happier than a pig in...... well, you get my point!

Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy

The sleeve Gastrectomy is an operation in which the left side of the stomach is surgically removed. This results in a new stomach which is roughly the size and shape of a banana. Since this operation does not involve any "rerouting" or reconnecting the intestines, it is a simpler operation than the gastric bypass or the duodenal switch. Unlike the Lap-Band® procedure, the sleeve Gastrectomy does not require the implantation of an artificial device inside the abdomen.

Because the new stomach continues to function normally there are far fewer restrictions on the foods which patients can consume after surgery, however the quantity of food eaten will be considerably reduced. This is seen by many patients as being one of the great advantages of the sleeve Gastrectomy, as is the fact that the removal of the majority of the stomach also results in the virtual elimination of hormones produced within the stomach which stimulate hunger.

For patients with a body mass index greater than 60, the sleeve gastrectomy may be the first part of a two-stage operation. Some patients have a body shape that can make a bariatric surgery more technically difficult – particularly those patients who carry their weight in their belly. If you fall into this category, you may benefit from a two-stage bariatric surgery. In the staged approach, a multi-step operation like the gastric bypass is broken down into two simpler and safer operations. In the first stage, a sleeve gastrectomy is performed. This allows a patient to lose 80 to 100 pounds or more, making the second part of the operation substantially safer.
About The Gastric Sleeve (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy)

Low BMI individuals who should consider this procedure include:

  1. Those who are concerned about the potential long term side effects of an intestinal bypass such as intestinal obstruction, ulcers, anemia, osteoporosis, protein deficiency and vitamin deficiency.
  2. Those who are considering a Lap-Band® but are concerned about a foreign body inside the abdomen.
  3. Those who have medical problems that prevent them from having weight loss surgery such as anemia, crohn's disease, extensive prior surgery, and other complex medical conditions.
  4. People who need to take anti-inflammatory medications may also want to consider this. Usually, these medications need to be avoided after a gastric bypass because the risk of ulcer is higher.
Now you ask what advantages does it have?
  1. It does not require disconnecting or reconnecting the intestines
  2. It is a technically simpler operation than the gastric bypass or the duodenal switch.
  3. There is no foreign body inside your body
  4. It does not need adjustments or fills
  5. It may be a safer operation for patients with a body mass index (BMI) more than 60. It may be used as the first stage of a 2-stage operation.
  6. Risks and Complications

As with any surgery, there can be complications. This list can include:
  1. Deep vein thrombophlebitis 0.5%
  2. Non-fatal pulmonary embolus 0.5%
  3. Pneumonia 0.2%
  4. Acute respiratory distress syndrome 0.25%
  5. Splenectomy 0.5%
  6. Gastric leak and fistula 1.0%
  7. Postoperative bleeding 0.5%
  8. Small bowel obstruction 0.0%
  9. Death 0.25%
My sister-in-law and other people I know has had a gastric by-pass, but a few years goes by, and they're all putting the weight back on.  Even my next door neighbor had a lap-band done, and she only lost a few pounds.  I've discussed this with my doctor, and he's looking into it with my insurance company.  So, my friends we shall see will I be cured once and for all with this like they said I will or are these so called doctors practicing physicians and not for real doctors?  IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE???  I'm tired of every one practicing on me.  So, I'm for this I really am and I promise you shall get the before and after and of course along the way info!

How Water Retention Causes Weight Gain

Losing weight can be pretty confusing if you don't know about water weight retention. Every healthy adult in the world has to deal with water retention and the weight gain that comes with it. Water weight is the culprit in more than a few cases of sudden weight gain.

To cut right to the quick of it: day to day fluctuations in weight are almost always caused by loss and gain in bodily fluids. Water retention weight gain is really the most common type of weight gain.

So, it's possible to retain up to five pounds or so of water weight. The heavier you are the more water retention you're likely to experience, especially if you eat more processed foods, as these tend to contain a lot more water than raw ingredients.

Even though day-to-day water gain typically only makes up a few pounds of weight, it's not uncommon to put on a whopping ten pounds of water weight around the holidays.

Water weight has a few different causes, but the most common would have to be an increase in sodium. Don't even bother trying to get on a sodium-free diet, as pretty much all food products contain some degree of sodium. In other words: if you're eating, you're eating sodium. Weight gain is always a combination of increased fat and water retention.  (From http://www.weightlossforall.com/water-retention-weight-gain.htm).

This was in 1992 and yep, it's me.  I want to look like that again!

Thank you.  The reason I've started my journey is I had a rude awakening to the reality of life in that I'm not getting any younger, and if I still wanted to lead a fun, and  happy life I had to make  some serious changes.

Still containing water due to the weather, and due to my shots being only a few days away and then I can start my exercising again & water aerobics I'll be doing better, but I'm so NOT giving up.  I weighed in this morning at... well it's 251 not much difference, but at least I didn't gain.  Maybe I need one of these weight watchers or nutri-system or those surgeries.  I don't know, but I think I'll talk to my doctor about it soon.  I've noticed my blog has moved and I don't know how to fix it.  This is the only one it's doing it.  Any suggestions????

Here's some tips about fruit you might like that I got in an e-mail the other day I'd like to share with you!

IF YOUR LIKE ME THEY DONT LAST THAT LONG.
But here's a good Berries idea...  a friend e-mailed this to me, so I'm sharing with by bloggy friends!

Good Idea!!

This is an awesome piece of info!  We eat fresh fruit every day and because we eat a little of each (Banana, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Grapes, Cantaloupe, Pineapple & Watermelon) every day the berries start to go bad quickly and end up in the garbage. Not anymore thanks to this great tip.

The key to preventing moldy berries...

Berries are delicious, but they're also kind of delicate.  Raspberries in particular seem like they can mold before you even get them home from the market.  There's nothing more tragic than paying $4 for a pint of local raspberries, only to look in the fridge the next day and find that fuzzy mold growing on their insides.    Well, with fresh berries just starting to hit farmers markets, we can tell you that how to keep them fresh!  Here’s a tip I’m sharing on how to  prevent them from getting there in the first place:

Wash them with vinegar.

When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water.  Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge.  The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila!  Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft.  So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them.   You're so berry welcome!

Weight Be Gone! One Woman's journey back to good health!

Hi Everyone!  This is my Weight Be Gone Thursday for me.  If you'd like to follow me in my journey you are welcome.  If you'd like to share your own journey feel free to sign my linky below, and I'll come visit you or if you have a great diet recipe that would be appreciated very much. Thank you.  The reason I've started my journey is I had a rude awakening to the reality of life in that I'm not getting any younger, and if I still wanted to lead a fun, and  happy life I had to make  some serious changes.

Okay, sad news here.  Due to the heat I'm containing water big time, and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the three digits, and this mama is staying home with her feet up.  I'll be blogging from our front-room  sitting in my recliner.  Oh well, ya gotta do what you gotta do.  I went to the Dermatologist yesterday for my legs.  It's definitely diagnosed that I have cellulitis, and I have to start wearing these dumb sucks socks.  No more flip flops.  So sad.  I love my flip flops.  She said if I didn't I would get ulcers and my skin would start weeping and I could lose a foot.  Tell me more good news!  Sheesh!  Forget that crap! Mama likes to dance!  Gonna have to do some serious dieting here.  I'll start losing when I can exercise.  My shots have worn off back to a cane and walker, and July 11th I'll be back to normal for another 2 months.  Soon as these practicing physicians turn into to doctors and stop practicing I can get it together!  IS THERE A FREAKING DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?

Okay, I weighed in at 253 and I'm saying 10lbs of it is probably water weight the way my feet and legs look so hopefully by staying in the air things will go back down.  I just can't go outside any time soon.  I hate me!  Okay, I had my mammogram, and all those other girly test and I'm healthy as a horse I'm told.  YEAH RIGHT!  Wish my girls would tell the rest of my body how to be healthy.  I've been thinking on looking up Dr. Oz's website.  Anyone ever do that?  Well, I'm going to and next week I'll tell you if I found anything out.  Have a great week everyone and as usual if you have any cool recipes let me have some or if you want to share your own healthy/diet adventure sign my linky so we can share!  Hugsssss to all!

Weight Be Gone!

First of all, so sorry I'm so late. but here goes anyway!   I weighed in on my own scale & I weighed in at 248 - I broke the ice!  Two more lbs. & I finally got off of the 250 numbers.  Now let's see if I can keep going, and hold it in the forties until I break the ice for 30's.  Wish me luck.  So far I've been doing it on my own.  I also notice I'm drinking a lot more like coffee or sugar free pink lemonade or regular lemonade (sugar free).  I have to watch that sugar stuff being border line diabetic.  That's what happens to ya when ya get too big ladies!!!  Now when you get to big and have medical problems you can't exercise, but I found other ways to exercise while you're in a chair.  Like my arms and legs.  Up, down, up, down and for my arms I have 2lb. weights and 3 lb. weights.  cool huh?

Still eating a lot of salads.  Here's one of my own recipes.  Anything I don't know what to call it I call it:

A DIET-MOODY SURPRISE!
Baby Organic Spinach leaves I find last the longest in the fridge by the way.  So I take a handful of those. A little handful of sliced fresh mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, chopped green onions, chopped avocado just a bit and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, red wine vinegar and a splash of olive oil, garlic powder, substitute salt, pepper and oregano and MIX the hell out of that bugger and WAH-LAH  lunch, but if I'm eating it for dinner sometimes I'll add a sprinkle of Greek cheese and one hard boiled egg and a few pieces of chicken.,

So, there you go.  If you'd like to share your journey there's a linky below you can sign.  Again sorry I'm so late.  Just wasn't up to par this morning.  Have a great day everyone!

First of all, so sorry I'm so late. but here goes anyway!  Okay, it's been a few weeks, and  when I was on vacation got lots of walking in, so hopefully I tightened up some of this flab!  So I weighed in on my own scale so who knows if that's accurate, but I'm hoping so and I weighed in at 250 so I'm holding steady.  Yep, right on the head.  Today being as my granddaughter is staying with me for the week & helping me around the house going to cut this one short & sweet.  Any recipes to share or tell me how you're diet is going if you're on one feel free to share in a comment or sign my linky and I'll come & visit & whoever else wants too!  Thanks!!!

A quick recipe from diet.com.  Is this not cool or what!?!

Teriyaki and Pineapple Chicken - Lactose Free
Servings: 4

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup low sodium teriyaki sauce (or 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce with 2 tbsp brown sugar)
  • 1 20-ounce can pineapple rings, plus 1/3 cup juice from the can
  • 4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions
  1. Whisk teriyaki sauce (or soy sauce, brown sugar) and the 1/3 cup pineapple juice in a large bowl. Add pineapple rings and chicken and gently stir to coat. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, preheat grill to medium-high, or oven to 400°F.
  3. Remove the chicken and pineapple from the marinade and pat dry; reserve the marinade. Oil the grill rack. Grill the chicken and pineapple until the chicken is cooked through and the pineapple is marked, 4 to 5 minutes per side.
  4. Whisk the reserved marinade and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook, whisking, until reduced and thickened, 2 to 4 minutes. Serve the chicken and pineapple drizzled with the sauce.

Weight be gone!

Well folks going to have to skip this week cuz we bees on V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N! I will say one thing getting in some walking too, which is a good thing, and of course swimming.  Tomorrow Great America again, and when I get back I'm going to the Key Lime Cove Paradise Mist Spa , which was given to me by the General Manager, Dale McFarland of the Key Lime Cove Indoor Water Park Resort in return for a review, which will be posted as soon as I get back.  So tomorrow I'm going there, and I'll let you know all about it.  Woo Hoo.  I'm going to say probably over the weekend.  So come back, and check it out.  THANKS!  Having a great time and wish YOU ALL were here!

We made friend with the Cove's bestest security Rick Munson extremely helpful & one helleva nice guy!  HI RICK!  What a nice smile, huh, but that's another Post coming soon!  Really and it's all about that big smile. It pays to know the local authorities ya never know right? Hahaha He must be bored because this place is just too fun to have any trouble, so what does he do?  He just helps everyone with everything and anything.  He's truly an asset to "The KeyLime Cove" for sure!

And just one more before I go:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GUY!
Also:  A quick recipe I enjoy for the summer:

For Waldorf Style Chicken Salad you will need:

  • 1 Large Skinless Boneless Chicken Breast
  • 1 cup Juicy & Firm Apples
  • 1 cup Green Seedless Grapes
  • 1/2 cup Celery
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts
  • 1/4 cup Light Mayo
  • 1/4 cup Plain Balkan Style Yogurt
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Substitute salt & Pepper to taste if needed
Grilled the chicken breast till done, but it’s nice and juicy. Let it cool down and then chopped into smaller cubes & then wash and dry all your fruit and vegetables.

In a bowl combine chopped apples, chopped celery, cut up grapes (in halves), chopped walnuts, mayo, yogurt and lemon juice. Mix it well. Add the chicken and toss it gently around till everything is lightly cover with the mayo and yogurt mixture.

This week I've had my shots, which are called Transforaminal (TFSI), and usually I could jump off that table and feel great this time something weird happened.  I get these shots on both sides, and this time my left side went bonkers and it hurt so bad I had to be wheeled to the car, and the shots hurt so bad that I needed cold packs.  The next two days I was drained and tired & then all of a sudden I started to feel a bit better and the only think my left hip still bugs me and I do have a call into him.  Anyway today I went for a check up at the Cardiologist and I weighed in.  Okay good news blood pressure is good, and that';s been good for a while.  Pulse - fine.  Weight....  250  DAMMIT!  I cannot break this ice that my weight is hovering around 250.  Well, I did find out some sorta good news a possible lack of Vitamin D, and if this is true that could be why I'm having the weakness in the bones.  Woo Hoo Could you imagine.  If I go through this routine with this Vitamin D stuff I could be strong again & boogie again & do things I use to do.  Hell, I could even go back to work!!!!  ........................ OR NOT!  hehehhe  Well, I'll keep you posted on that.

So here's my health tip of the day.  I love smoothies so here's one for ya!

Blender:  COCO -PEACH PINA COLADA
1 cup of frozen sliced peaches
1 container of nonfat pineapple=coconut yogurt
1/4 cup light coconut milk
1 tbs. flaxseed meal, like Bob's Red Mill  (this one I skip - I can't find it)

In blenderm, pouree all ingredients 30 sec. or until smooth.  Sweeten to taste. (I use Splenda) and pour!

If you'd like to share your journey of battle of the bulge feel free to sign the linky and I'll come by and see what's up or if you have any diet tips feel free to leave them in a comment.  As I've said before Weight Watchers I just don't think I could go through all that Jennifer Hudson mumbo jumbo.  It's to each their own and what they can do.  Have a great day.

I weighed in at 248 which means I gained a pound.  Uncool, but as I said I really was expecting anything being as I've been stuck in this chair most of the week.  So short and sweet and if y'all got any recipes for me or diet tips please feel free to leave it in a comment.  Thanks bunches.  Don't forget to sign my linky if you'd like to share your own diet journey, and I'll come visit you.  Thanks for stopping by.

Weight Be Gone!

Last week I was 250 lbs. & drum roll please 247lbs. I cannot believe I broke the ice.  Unfortunately my exercising has come to a halt, but still watching what I eat until after my shots & I'll be back at the health club this time for some water aerobics & more walking.  Love you all & thanks for stopping by.

WEIGHT LOSS TIPS:
  • BECOME A SLOW EATER: if you eat slow, chew a lot and savor every bite, this tricks your body into thinking it's full with less food. If you eat too fast, you tend to over eat.
  • SKIP THE MEAT OCCASIONALLY: meatless meals help you trim calories. Replace it with vegetables and fruits.
  • Red/marinara sauce is better than Alfredo or creamy sauce when you are counting calories.
  • DOWNSIZE YOUR PLATE: use a 10" lunch plate instead of a dinner plate. this tricks your body into thinking more food even though you are eating less. It is all in the mind.
If you have any tips for me, please kindly leave them in a comment.  Also, if you're on a diet journey and you want to share please sign my linky below.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Oh, and I finally got my video from my walk in the park.  Would  you like to see it.  Well, let's go for a walk.
