Short amazing story for you.  My mother passed in 2006, and my daughter said, "Mom, you really should put together a family tree for me & the kids so we don't forget our heritage, and before no one is around to ask any questions".  So, I started one on paper & that just got confusing so I went to Ancestry.com.  To shorten this story some I got an e-mail through Ancestry.com from a cousin I never met.  One thing lead to another and she filled in some questions I had & added stuff she knew and we swapped pictures, and stories I've never heard or seen and vice-versa.  It's been fun.  Now, I've been showing you the pics I got from my Cuz the last two weeks, but I only have one left.
This is Julia & Nels.  Not sure who Nels is, but Julia is my Grandmother's half-sister oh, on my Dad's side.

My question is: Who taught you how to cook?

My Dad was a cook in the Army, and he taught me a few things, but my Grandmother on my mom's side she was the real cook in the family born & bred in Palermo, Sicily.  I learned many things from her, and I guess the rest was just trial and error!

When I got divorced I was eating nothing but restaurant food & piling on the pounds. Now through trial and error I'm a pretty good cook.

When I got married at 17 years old, I knew very little about cooking. So between my Mother-in-laws help and recipes, I more or less taught myself how to cook. If I got stuck, mother-in-law came to the rescue. Now that I am retired we eat out for lunch and TV dinners for supper. Who has time to cook anyway? hee, hee.

My Aloha post is in Ann's Reading Corner.

Great question!!! My Nana and my Mom. Except I didn't get the baking gene. I missed out on that one. I remember helping Nana rollout the home made pasta dough in the machine, filling it with ricotta and pinching the edges with a fork for ravioli. And so many more yummy recipes.

My parents each taught me a bit, but I learn the most from cookbooks, blogs, etc.

It's just awesome that you get to learn more about your family. Must be so exciting!

I don't remember anyone teaching me to cook. I just did stuff from the recipe book until I could do things on my own without the books :)

Aloha beautiful!

My Mom taught me a little but most of it I learned on my own.

My mom tried to teach me to cook, but I
resisted. Then I got married at 18 and my dh expected to eat! And he resisted pb&j. So I had to learn by following recipes. When we moved to Ohio, my wonderful mother-in-law taught me how to cook without food poisoning!

I've been loving all these photos of your relatives, so awesome to have those.
Believe it or not, no one ever taught me to cook, I learned it all on my own by trial and error.
Bill says I've come a long way and am pretty good at it now.
