So it's "Freebie" Time First let's Jump, Jive an Wail & get this party started! One more boogie... Viva La Vida Loca HOLY COW SOMEBODY STOP ME!!! LOL OKAY HOW ABOUT A LIL STORY!
Let me tell you a little story. When I was little there was a story that my mom would play on this record & it would scare the hell out of me every time the wolf would come. Listen you'll see what I mean. Although I did put the embed it still would not play it, so here is the link. It still gives me the willies til this very day! errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Peter & the Wolf Part II http://youtu.be/WdJBK1dRq38 Why would anyone play that for their child is beyond me. My babysitter loved the story & would play it every time she came over. Weirdo!
Anyway let's change to something cheerful!
Ugly Duckling (one of my favorites of the Grimms Fairy Tales which I love)
Danny Kaye as The Professor of Music
Gene Kelly dances with the birds
AND JUST TO MAKE YOU SMILE! Everyone remembers ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH PEACE,LOVE ANDROCK &ROLL!
Yep, your two picks had me grooving this morning. Mez love both of 'em!
Oh heavens, the clip of Peter and the Wolf is so viciously scarey. I really wonder about people, the old classic Bugs Bunny cartoons now have the violent parts censored out, but this? There's no figuring out people's line of reasoning or lack of.
What a hoot! You featured Danny Kaye as part of your song line up, too. Two great minds think alike, right? I loved your classics at the end - so much fun!
It's always such a pleasure to join in every week. Thanks for hosting, Marie!
Ack, I had a hard time with the linky this morning!! After I linked up it disappeared and couldn't visit anyone or comment. Glad it's working now. I think I might have LaVidaLoca in my head all day now...
what a fun mix today! We had Peter & the Wolf record when I was a kid too... but I loved it. Of course I now have a total all-things-wolfy obsession.... hmm have to wonder if that's where it came from
Hope you have a fantastic week & thanks for sharing the awesome ear candy
Our high school band plays the Brian Setzer every basketball game and the kids sing the song. I enjoy it so much!! For a small school there are so really talented kids!!

That was actually Hans Christian Anderson, not the Grimm's fairy tale. My mom made us memorize and watch that movie and I loved the Ugly Duckling song. My mom is such a huge fan of Has we have a painting of him in our family room back home. But still great choices and songs! Love them all

Awesome songs!
I loved Mary Poppins.
There are childhood fears that we never get over. Love Mary Poppins. And I feel so old looking at Ricky Martin all grown up, lol!
Those first two songs had me dancing. I haven't heard those in ages!
I love Danny Kaye. I used to play the Ugly Duckling song in my Mommy and Me class. The kids love the "PFPPT" part.
You've got so many great music classics today. You and I must have been on the same music page today. I also shared a musical classic.
