WORDLESS WEDNESDAY!

I mentioned before she broke her hip, but she's doing much better with that now, but she lives in assisted living right now, and she got dizzy the other day, so they took her to the hospital just for GP.  She's okay.  I think she just wanted to flirt with all those handsome doctors.  My step-bro and I went to see her yesterday.

This is where I went this morning.  My doctor's new office.  Isn't it swank!  ~hehe~  See those glass windows?  It's one of those games!  Guess which window is the door!  Sheesh!

Smiling is good, but Laughter is healthy!

I wish you all a very healthy and happy Sunday.  Let us pray: "Oh Lord, fill my mouth with worth while stuff, and nudge me when I've said enough"!

Out with the old, and in with the new!

Aren't you curious to see what it looks like on the otherside of your blogging buddies screen?  I often wondered that  myself.  Does she have the same kind of room as I  have.  Does she have the same problems that I do when I sit at the computer too long?  Well, let me cure your curiosity.

When we first moved into our humble abode ten years ago this November - Thanksgiving to be exact; we bought what they call a handyman special.  I must add that we threw most of our money into our new house.  We bought a smaller home because all my children were married, and living on their own.  It was going to be our little honeymoon cottage in a way.  We'll get into the remaking of our home another time, but here is what my office looked like in the very beginning.  It consisted of a sturdy folding table (folded tablecloth for a tad elegance), my phone & coffee (essentials), two kitchen chairs (one with a dictaphone, the other with my printer).  Check out that huge monitor.  Remember those?  There's my bench for my feet to keep them up.  My water bottle, glasses, dictionary on the chair, shredder to the left, and a calendar on the wall.

Now, here is what it looks like today thanks to my sweet mother-in-law (and best friend), sister-in-law & family and my dear sweet hubby decided to upgrade me for Christmas.  Ahhhhhhhhhhh and oooooooooooooooo You say?  Yes.  I know, cool ain't it!?!

This is where I sit most of the time.  Of course over the years a few things have changed.  There is a different chair, and there's a small TV on top of my filing cabinet now too, so I can watch/listen to my Fox News in the morning.  As you can also see I still have my little stool under my desk for the big feets!  Only one gets to go up though the other foot is for my dictation pedal.  I am a transcriptionist also when I'm not blogging.  Also there's a much nicer drape on the window now too.  Now, let me also say that this is the only room in the house we did not refinish.  We're saving our money so we can eventually Z-Brick the two outside walls & we haven't decided what we're going to do with the other two walls, and we're needing two door frames too.   There is an old hardwood floor, and we're kind of contemplating if we should have it refinished or get a new one.

So there you have it!  This is where I am to say HEY to all of you!  So, HEY!  Enjoy your weekend!  From Batavia, Illinois I wish you a wonderful weekend!  "HUGS"!Waving

YA GOTTA HAVE FRIENDS!

ur lunch was a successful meeting! I saw my new friend sitting waiting for me on the bench outside of our luncheon rendezvous, and a big smile creeped up on me, and I waved as hard as I could! She came to my car, and we hugged like we were long lost friends, and hadn't seen each other in years! We went into our restaurant, and I think we talked for two hours before we ordered. It was wonderful, and we talked, and laughed the entire time!  Naturally, we talked about Glitterbabe Greetings and XmasDolly and meme's, which don't forget tomorrow I'm going to be Guest Host for Follow me Back Tuesday!  WOO HOO!

So, my friend, all good things must come to an end, and our lunch date was a success.  I had a wonderful time.  Please let's do it again soon!

MUSIC MONDAY!

It's Music Monday one of my favorite Meme's...

Yes, Music Monday! ...because it's what moves me.
My friend Tara over at  Keeping up with the Kelly's got me hooked on her meme.  Music Monday!  Here's what to do if you'd like to join us.
How do you join in?
1) Pick a song based on the theme of the week or any song of your choosing on a non-themed week.
2) Find the song's video on www.youtube.com or another video hosting site.
3) Write a post displaying the Music Monday button, which links back to me (I would greatly appreciate this step) and share the story behind or why you chose the particular song.
4) Add the video so we can all enjoy and leave you comments.
5) Click on your post title (not the main page of your blog) and copy the link in the address bar.
6) Click on the MckLinky link at the bottom of my post and add your copied link address and your name so we can all visit you.
7) Visit the other participants, leave comments and make new friends!

Isn't that neat.  Here's today's theme:
Pick a song...
August 23 - From Randon Songfact - Directions: 1) Go to www.songfacts.com, 2) Click on Random Songfact in the lefthand navigation bar, 3) Either list the first song that pops up or you can keep clicking until a song you recognize comes up, 4) Do a Music Monday post on that song including the video and listing some of the song facts!
I went there, and this is what came up for me.  I've never heard it before, but I do like Santana, and I also like Dave Matthews so here goes.

This song is called, "Love of my Life" by Santana.  This song features Dave Matthews on vocals and Carter Beauford on drums, although the latter isn't credited on the back of the album (his name shows up on the album sleeve). (thanks, Jim - Oxnard, CA).

Now today I'm having lunch with a fellow blogger.  Her name is Stephanie, but we all know her as GlitterBabe!  And I found a song I would like to dedicate to her.  Steph thanks for having lunch with me today, and taking the time to come and chat a bit, and to meet me.  You're a special person my friend!  See you soon!

LOVE BIRDS?

HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW

A female mate was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road, and the condition was soon fatal.
Her male mate brought her food and attended her with love and compassion.

He brought her food again, but was shocked to find her dead.

He tried to move her - a rarely seen effort.

Aware that his mate was dead and would never come back to him again, he cried with adoring love...
...and stood beside her with sadness and sorrow.
Millions of people were touched after seeing these photos in America, Europe, Australia, and even India.  The photographer sold these pictures for a nominal fee to the most famous newspaper in France.  All copies of that edition were sold out on the day these pictures were published.
And many people think animals and birds don't have brains or feelings.  You have just witnessed love and sorrow felt by God's creatures.  The Bible says that God knows when a sparrow falls.  Imagine how much He cares for us!
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, and speak kindly.  (*This was another e-mail I got a few months ago I've been saving to share with you all.  Isn't it sweet?)

**Also, thought I'd mention that Steph of Glitterbabe Greetings, and I are meeting for lunch tomorrow. I can't wait. Woohoo We found out that we lived close to one another, so we planned this little luncheon a few weeks ago.  Lunch right next to the river!Salad  I know we're going to have a blast.  I cannot wait.  See you soon, Girlfriend!Cheers

HELPFUL TIME SAVERS AROUND THE HOUSE!

I got this in an e-mail, and I wanted to share with my blogging buddies. Have a great day, thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to click on my white fence on the right here, and vote for my blog. THANKS BUNCHES! Sure hope this helps someone out. They’re definitely keepers!

1. A sealed envelope. Put it in the freezer for a few hours, and then slide a knife under the seal, and you can seal it again. (Hmmm, Rather sneaky I think)!
2. Use an empty toilet paper roll to store appliance chords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs too.
3. For icy doorstep in freezing temperatures get warm water, and put Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won’t refreeze. (I wish I knew that one for the last 20 years or so).
4. To remove old wax from a glass holder put it in the freezer for a few hours. Then take the candle-holder out, and turn it upside down. The wax will fall out.
5. Crayon marks on walls? This works wonderfully! A damp rag dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort. (Well, a little elbow grease that is!).
6. Does your husband have ballpoint pen marks on his shirt pocket? Try a little hairspray or maybe there’s gum stuck on the bottom of his shoes. Ice cube always worked for me.
7. Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops (like a store receipt - blue). Use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.
8. When purchasing a box of S.O.S. Pads take a pair of scissors, and cut each pad in halves. After years of having to throw rusted and unused, and smelly pads it is much more economical and it sharpens your scissors. A box lasts twice as long.
9. Blood stains on clothes? Not to worry! Just pour a little hydrogen peroxide on a cloth, and proceed to wipe off every drop of blood. Works every time! (Now, where to put the body is another story). LOL
10. Using vertical strokes when washing windows outside, and horizontal inside. This way you can tell which side has the streaks. Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don’t wash windows on a sunny day. They will dry too quickly, and will probably streak.
11. Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a lovely light scent in each room when the light is turned on.
12. Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers, and your clothes will smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels, and linen.
13. Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least three hours prior to burning.
14. To clean artificial flowers pour some salt into a paper bag, and add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt, and leave your artificial flowers looking like new! Works like a charm!
15. To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, bring to a boil on stovetop.

16. Spray your Tupperware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring tomato based sauces and there won’t be any stains.
17. Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting it into the refrigerator, and it will keep for weeks.
18. When boiling corn on the cob add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the natural sweetness.
19. Cure for headaches. Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away. (I prefer to soak the lime in vodka and rub it on my tongue first).
20. Don’t throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles, and sauces. Left over wine? What’s that?
21. To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area, and you will experience instant relief.
22. Ants, ants, ants, everywhere? Well, it is said they never cross chalk. So, get your chalk. So, get your chalk out, and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march, and see for yourself. Now, in case they are some place you cannot use chalk I’ve also heard of a pepper trail. They won’t cross that either.
23. Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job, and leaves a lovely smell to the shine.
24. When you get a splinter reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, and pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
25. Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer. Clean a toilet. Drop in two tablets.
26. Clean a vase. To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet fill with water, and drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets.
27. Polish jewelry. Drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water, and immerse the jewelry. Also, for those small spaces on your diamond rings, bracelets brushing them with toothpaste make them sparkle like brand new!
28. Clean a thermos bottle. Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer if necessary).
29. To unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, and then run the hot water. Kind of makes you wonder about Alka Seltzer, doesn’t it?
30. To take corrosion off your battery cables/posts of your car just pour Coke on them. Makes em’ shine! Kind of makes you wonder about Coke too!

Well, that’s your lessons for today! Hope it helps you somewhat! Have a great day, and don’t forget to click on my white fence here on the right. Just click - nothing else & you have voted for my blog! SMOOCHES TO ALL! Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for voting! You follow me let me know, and I will definitely follow you too! Also, on the right at the top check out my three give-aways! You might find something you like!

Energize me Seymor!

Could it be that our world has turned into a, "Little Shop of Horrors?"  We need to feed our batteries or keep buying more and more, so they can run all the clocks, remotes, radios, toy cars and games, and beyond!  Oh no, what are we to do!?! -- But wait!  What is that over there?  Can I believe my eyes?  Is that what I think it is?  Yes, it's a Energizer Smart Charger!  Woo Hoo!  We're saved!

If you need fast chargers with great features and long-lasting rechargeable batteries, Energizer has it all.  Energizer® Recharge batteries provide long-lasting rechargeable battery power, lasting up to 4 times longer in digital cameras.  They also retain more charge at 12 months and can be recharged up to 250 more times. So, they’re ready when you are. Pair them with Energizer chargers- use the Charger Chooser to find the chargers that are right for you!

How would this make my life easier?  Well, in our house we need batteries all the time.  My husband is musician, and he needs them for his Wah-Wah pedal, his recorders, microphones, tuners, foot pedals, drum machine, computerized brother (memory for the keyboards), and so many other things.  Not to mention when my nine grand-children come over and it's NaNee do you have double A's or NaNee do you have triple A's etc.  Is it NaNee to the rescue?  No!  It's Energizer to the rescue every time!  For cameras, flash lights, clocks etc. Energizer you're my hero!

**This cool opportunity came from www.Jleighdesignz.com  Energizer is only offering this to the first 200 blog topic posters.

Disclaimer: Receiving a energizer Smart Charger and a $15 gift card for posting my idea and knowledge about Energizer batteries and products on how they could make my life easier.  These ideas and thoughts are mine alone 100%..

ALOHA FRIDAY PHOTO FLASHBACK, AND FOLLOW FRIDAY 40 AND OVER,

Don't forget to sign in to MckLinky so we can all visit and comment on each others blogs!  I personally think it's a great idea, and sounds like fun!  I totally love old pictures.  Please come join us - it's really a lot of fun.  Just sign up to my friend's linky at Friday Photo Flashback (see link above).  You'll love walking down memory day - just as I do!

This is my dad probably before I was born.  From what I can see by the little drum my brother was already born, so I'm going to say this was the late 1940's after 1944 for sure.  Wow, check out that old black & white TV.

Are you a blogger over 40? Yeah, welcome to the club!

My question is:  What is your favorite Disney Story?

Mine is Cinderella.  Recently I got this e-mail that told me all about the year I was born, and it said that Cinderella was also the top selling movie of that year.  Isn't that cool?  Also, here's the cover from 1950.  This is awesome.
