HELPFUL TIME SAVERS AROUND THE HOUSE!

I got this in an e-mail, and I wanted to share with my blogging buddies. Have a great day, thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to click on my white fence on the right here, and vote for my blog. THANKS BUNCHES! Sure hope this helps someone out. They’re definitely keepers!

1. A sealed envelope. Put it in the freezer for a few hours, and then slide a knife under the seal, and you can seal it again. (Hmmm, Rather sneaky I think)!
2. Use an empty toilet paper roll to store appliance chords. It keeps them neat and you can write on the roll what appliance it belongs too.
3. For icy doorstep in freezing temperatures get warm water, and put Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won’t refreeze. (I wish I knew that one for the last 20 years or so).
4. To remove old wax from a glass holder put it in the freezer for a few hours. Then take the candle-holder out, and turn it upside down. The wax will fall out.
5. Crayon marks on walls? This works wonderfully! A damp rag dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort. (Well, a little elbow grease that is!).
6. Does your husband have ballpoint pen marks on his shirt pocket? Try a little hairspray or maybe there’s gum stuck on the bottom of his shoes. Ice cube always worked for me.
7. Permanent marker on appliances/counter tops (like a store receipt - blue). Use rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.
8. When purchasing a box of S.O.S. Pads take a pair of scissors, and cut each pad in halves. After years of having to throw rusted and unused, and smelly pads it is much more economical and it sharpens your scissors. A box lasts twice as long.
9. Blood stains on clothes? Not to worry! Just pour a little hydrogen peroxide on a cloth, and proceed to wipe off every drop of blood. Works every time! (Now, where to put the body is another story). LOL
10. Using vertical strokes when washing windows outside, and horizontal inside. This way you can tell which side has the streaks. Straight vinegar will get outside windows really clean. Don’t wash windows on a sunny day. They will dry too quickly, and will probably streak.
11. Spray a bit of perfume on the light bulb in any room to create a lovely light scent in each room when the light is turned on.
12. Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers, and your clothes will smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels, and linen.
13. Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer for at least three hours prior to burning.
14. To clean artificial flowers pour some salt into a paper bag, and add the flowers. Shake vigorously as the salt will absorb all the dust and dirt, and leave your artificial flowers looking like new! Works like a charm!
15. To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet, simply add a drop or two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, bring to a boil on stovetop.

16. Spray your Tupperware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring tomato based sauces and there won’t be any stains.
17. Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting it into the refrigerator, and it will keep for weeks.
18. When boiling corn on the cob add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the natural sweetness.
19. Cure for headaches. Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away. (I prefer to soak the lime in vodka and rub it on my tongue first).
20. Don’t throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles, and sauces. Left over wine? What’s that?
21. To get rid of itch from mosquito bites, try applying soap on the area, and you will experience instant relief.
22. Ants, ants, ants, everywhere? Well, it is said they never cross chalk. So, get your chalk. So, get your chalk out, and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march, and see for yourself. Now, in case they are some place you cannot use chalk I’ve also heard of a pepper trail. They won’t cross that either.
23. Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job, and leaves a lovely smell to the shine.
24. When you get a splinter reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, and pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily.
25. Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer. Clean a toilet. Drop in two tablets.
26. Clean a vase. To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet fill with water, and drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets.
27. Polish jewelry. Drop in two Alka Seltzer tablets into a glass of water, and immerse the jewelry. Also, for those small spaces on your diamond rings, bracelets brushing them with toothpaste make them sparkle like brand new!
28. Clean a thermos bottle. Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer if necessary).
29. To unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, and then run the hot water. Kind of makes you wonder about Alka Seltzer, doesn’t it?
30. To take corrosion off your battery cables/posts of your car just pour Coke on them. Makes em’ shine! Kind of makes you wonder about Coke too!

Well, that’s your lessons for today! Hope it helps you somewhat! Have a great day, and don’t forget to click on my white fence here on the right. Whoa! Neat trick that liquid soap and hot water for icy steps. This one's going to help me alot this winter. Really good information here. Thanks for passing it along! (And to think they have us drinking Alka Seltzer...yikes! I'm not doing that anymore)

oh i love tips like these!!! here's a few for you...

(1) for congestion....fry up some garlic in oil. empty it onto a wash cloth and wrap it. place it on your chest. really works too!

(2) i use windshield washer liquid to clean ALL my mirrors and glass. works beautifully!

(3) WD-40 for ALL your cleaning jobs. spray it on a swiffer duster and dust your furniture! not only does it make the wood shine, but it'll be at least 3 extra days before you have to dust again.

(4) hate to use the salt to dust off your silk plants???? wipe the dust off and spray it with febreeze. keeps the dust off almost forever!!!! - ALMOST is the key word here!!!!

SEE YA TOMORROWWWWWWW!!!!

hugs :)
