This is my old jade plant. Wasn't she beautiful? It was full of life, and gorgeous for years and then last year she got root rot. I don't know what happened. Maybe it was from taking her outside, and she got too much water I think. I bought her the week I moved in this house, which was 10 yrs. ago last November, and she died last year.
Well, now I have a new one. This is my new baby below. Wish me luck. Hopefully she'll look like my old one in time.

Our Lady of the New Millennium
I was driving down the street one day on my way to go grocery shopping when the sun started to blind my eyes. As I shielded them from the bright sun something started to shade me. Whatever it was it isn't there usually. Why it was in the church's parking lot. "What are they building now?" I sighed, but then something started to come into view, and as my eyes focused I saw her. My mouth hung open I immediately swung into the parking lot as if on a mission from God, and I was in awe. I stopped right in the middle of the parking lot, and looked up. I had NEVER seen anything so beautiful, so miraculous in my life. I jumped back into my car and flew to the store to buy a camera. I zoomed back, and started snapping like crazy. Isn't she beautiful? I felt like I've seen a miracle, and when I heard the story I was touched.
"Our Lady of the Millennium" was commissioned in 1995 by the late Carl Demma, a dedicated Catholic from Oak Lawn, Illinois whose lifelong dream was to build a statue devoted to the Virgin Mary for the city of Chicago.
In her book, "Our Lady of the New Millenium: One Man's Dream", Gail Jardine explains that he came up with the idea when he was only nine years old, after mistaking the statue on the top of the Chicago Board of Trade building for a statue of Mary. Upon learning that the statue was the Roman goddess of agriculture, he said, "Then I will build a statue so big that all of Chicago can see her!"
It was eventually built by the artist Charles Cropper Parks, along with his assistant, Matt Large. In 1999, it was blessed in St. Louis by Pope John Paul II.
Father Pat Marshall, the director and priest of the Newman Center, requested last spring that the statue be brought to UIC. He wanted it to be present on campus at the beginning of the school year. "A lot of people don't know that out of the 25,000 students at UIC, 15,000 of those students are from Catholic families," he explained. "We have more Catholic students than any Catholic or private university in the Midwest."
He said that he hopes that "it deepens the faith of Catholic students, and opens up a dialogue between believers and nonbelievers." He said that so far the presence of the statue has been "without controversy", and that the Newman Center has not received any complaints about the statue. He added, "For those that disagree with us, it's still a good thing. What a university is supposed to be is about dialogue."
*All I know is the way she made me feel at that very moment, and for a very long time after that. She's amazing, and I thought I could share that with you.

My Dad liked to fiddle in the garage, so he had got a 1961 Comet, Ford from one of his pals for nothing, and then he found another 1961 Comet at the junkyard that he bought I think it was fifty bucks. He put the two together, and I had one hell of a car, and the only 16 year old at school that had her own car! My Dad rocked!

WHAT'S IN MY COFFEE? PART II THE SOLUTION "PUR Water Filtration & GIVE-AWAY"
GIVE AWAY IS NOW CLOSED.
WINNER IS: KARENMED409
THANK YOU ALL FOR ENTERING.
Last week, I posted a question about a nasty looking/tasting cup of coffee. No matter what was done from changing coffee brands, scrubbing the pot, changing soaps etc. nothing seem to work. I decided to ask my readers/friends their opinion. I got many different suggestions, and I tried them all except many of you came up with the same suggestion. Test the water!
I decided to contact PUR Water Filtration, and explain my problem to them. They were completely understanding, and forwarded vital information, and a PUR Water Filtration System pitcher, and wished me luck. They totally agreed with my methodology as to how to find out what was the culprit in this crime. My goal was to transform this worthless cup of mud into something actually drinkable.
First, I cleaned the coffee pot, then followed the directions for the PUR Water Filtration System. I filled the pitcher with tap water & I waited. I watched anxiously as it drip, drip, dripped into the pitcher. How clear the water was & sparkly. (Okay, the sun was behind the pitcher & made it sparkle-give me a break), Oh my gosh! It's READY! Let's pour the water into the coffee pot. On a side note, a big shout out to Folgers Coffee. I had contacted them & sent a copy of my post. They very graciously sent me a coupon for a free can of coffee, and would like to know my results also.
To THIS: AHHH!
DOESN'T THAT LOOK GOOD! TA - DA!
OH, AND IT TASTE SOOOOO GOOD!
I totally LUV my new PUR Water Filtration Pitcher. (Pause here for a sip of GOOD coffee). Many, many thanks to PUR. It's also the only pitcher that removes 99.9% microbial cysts, reduces 98% lead, and also reduces Mercury, Chlorine (taste and odor), and even more. I'll tell you the line that sold me is it filters tap water into crystal clean water that moisturizes your skin & hair, hydrates your body, and is essential to get you through the day! WAIT THERE'S MORE! PUR Pitcher can even replace up to 2,000 16 oz. bottles of water per year, and also save you money! Okay, I'm sold! SAVE ME MONEY! I'm so there!

PŪR is the first leading water filtration brand to claim reduction of trace levels of pharmaceuticals identified in U.S. tap water – more than 99% for PŪR faucet filters, and more than 96% for PŪR pitchers. PŪR filters remove 99.9% of microbial cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium, which can lead to intestinal illness. PŪR filters also reduce many kinds of contaminants in the water, while leaving fluoride, which is essential for developing and maintaining healthy teeth in children and adults, giving it the American Dental Association Seal of Approval. For more information on contaminant reduction, certification and testing, visit www.purwater.com.

God's Pharmacy
Just a quick post here, but first I'd like to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns for my granddaughter Janessa. She's doing fine, and coming home tomorrow (hopefully). They still have her on antibiotics, and pain medicine, and she's sleeping a lot, but she's with her Daddy now, and quite content.
I received this in an e-mail, and totally loved it, and I wanted to share with all of you. Makes sense to me.

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...
God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God's Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with Lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the Glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.
Sorry, there was pictures with this, but they got corrupted, but I'm sure you get the point.
oooooooooooo I feel bad now! All the drug stores are going to lose a lot of business! ~snicker~ Have a happy & healthy day!
