On the way to my son's house I saw this on the side of the road. It startled me at first, but then I saw it was some sort of an exhibit. I googled it, and this is what I found I thought I'd share with you. Norway, Illinois
Down the road from the understated Norwegian Settlers Monument, is a startling sight. A small, two-prop passenger plane, burrowed nose down into the ground, a partly smashed and gutted hulk.
Don't bother looking for survivors. It's the Agricultural Crash Monument, "Dedicated to all farmers and Ag related business folks that have lived thru the 'Agricultural Crash' of the 1980's." It is owned by Mervin and Phyllis Eastwold, or at least that's what the sign said when we last saw it.

That is a) really scary, b) pretty awesome, and c) super eco-friendly. Way to put an old plane to good use, Norway Ill!

I wonder how many 911 phone calls are recieved about this landmark. Because if you miss that sign...LOL. Great picture!
Yes that is pretty cool when you learn what it is about but at first you'd definitely be like what on earth!

What a visual reminder!
Well, I think that would startle me too if I came upon something like it on the side of the road. Very, very interesting. I'm glad you went home and looked it up for us...educational.
Wow, at first I thought it was something very bad you had witnessed! Very interesting :)
I LOVE that picture! One year when we had our local festival, ont of the guys DROVE an old plane from our little runway where the crop dusters routinely left their planes and this particular old plane had been a fixture there for years! Doubt it would even still fly, but it made for some interesting dinner table discussions as festival goers had to slowly drive the 4 miles to display the plane, as it lumbered down the 2 lane highway. I told my husband how sorry I was about being late, but had gotten behind a slow plane!!!
