My question is:  What was your best friend's name when you were little, and are you still friends?


My best friend's name was AnnaMarie Rossi when I was little, and then I another one after she moved away, and never heard from her again.  Christa Konrath.  We went to grammar school together.  We were inseparable, and then she moved away.  I've tried searching for them on the net, but no luck.  I miss my buddies.

Emergency Wordful Wednesday!

What we have here is my Monday night.  We have an old pair of very worn slippers I refuse to throw away going down an old flight of basement stairs, and then all meeting up at the hospital emergency room because I had back surgery & I have four screws and a plate where the L4 & L5 use to be.   I didn't just miss one or two steps, but all of them like eight or nine.   Even though I held onto that railing for dear life on the way down I just couldn't stop myself and bounced all the way to the bottom still holding on to the railing.   With every hard hit  I  saw stars, and the pain I felt was unbelievable. My husband took me about nine p.m., and due to the over abundance of patients (I never saw) I was told this was the reason for the long wait.  We didn't go home until approximately 3:00 a.m.   Long story short.  No broken bones, very bad bruising, and bed rest for a few few days.  They were all very nice people, but it was like hurry up and wait!  Dang, that was inferiorating.  So, I may be really, REALLY sore, but I'll live.  PROMISE!  ~tee-hee~

"This house is clean".  Ah, yes this blog is clean... ~he-he~  My daughter came over today and cleaned my blog from old buttons advertising the holidays, and such.  ALSO... ANNOUNCING THE VERY FIRST (drum roll  please --) XMASDOLLY BUTTON!!!  TA-DAH!!  (omg, I gotta get a life - the littlest things excite me - lol).  Yes folks, introducing my very first button if you will notice on your right here.  Take a look.  Copy it and take it home!  Now, just a little story behind this button.  The doll you see was given to my mother on a Valentine's Day on a Heart Candy Box from my dad (isn't that romantic - ahhhhhhhhhhh - swooning goes here) many years ago.  Yes, she kept it all these years, and always put it out at Christmas time, hence the name XmasDolly.  This doll was passed down to me as I will pass it down to my daughter, and by the way in case you didn't know my house (blog) cleaner none other than (NO, NOT TANGINA SILLY SHE ONLY DOES THAT IN MOVIES), not only my daughter, but she is our very only fellow-blogger "NIGHTOWLMAMA".  Yes, she cleaned up, and moved em' out! Also, fixed my button that her oldest son MY number one grandson by the way -- made for me (I have such a talented family.  HUH breathing on nails & now shinning them on my chest.  he-he), and then we all went shopping the rest of the day.  Such excitement I think I need to go rest now.   Okay, sorry to bore you, but that was my day today.  How U doin?

Wordless Wednesday - Soup's on!

Okay, it's really cold out so this is the day to make homemade soup like Gramma use to make.  Here she comes walking in the St. Joseph's Parade & wearing her stole.  She loved that cape.  Hi, Gram!  God rest her lovely soul! 

This soup has everything, and more.  Chicken legs, beef neck bones, garlic, celery, carrots, stewed tomatoes, and I threw in a couple of parsnips (sorry Gram, they were in the frig).  Spices galore, and then the little tiny spaghetti Gramma called them an Italian word.  Never did find out what that meant in English.  lol, but boy is that soup good!  ENJOY!

Uh-oh, better call the kids!  They'll never forgive me ~snicker~  Been simmering all day!

"One Lovely Blog Award"

Today in my e-mail I had a marvelous surprise.  When I read it I knew deep in my heart this is where I was meant to be, and that is blogging here with all of you.  Prior to blogging I was just a retired legal secretary on disability due to back problems.   I was getting bored/lonely at home when my daughter (NightOwlMama) said I should start a blog for myself, and the rest is history.  I've met so many wonderful interesting people.  My daughter started teaching me the ropes, and I started to blog just telling about my perils with my diet, and then it turned into stories about the family, and things I was doing.  I'm having so much fun now reading so many interesting blogs, entering give aways, and even winning a few, and meeting so many wonderful people. 

Today I was given this beautiful award that has really touched my heart!!!  This is my first award, and has brought joy to my heart and a warm feeling of being blessed with true friends.  Cheryl, a/k/a http://cmashlovestoread.blogspot.com/ passed this award on to me who loves to read.  I fall asleep when reading (sorry, Cheryl), but I loved reading her blog, and all the interesting things she had to say about reading.  Cheryl also stated that she enjoyed my reviews, graphics and overall appearance (bless her heart).  Well, Cheryl one day soon I'm going to find a book to read, and make a review just for you if I have to staple my eyelids open.  WOO HOO!  Thank you so much!!

I'M BA-ACK & UP AND RUNNING!

"I'M BA-ACK!  lol  I'm sorry.  The devil made me do it.  ~hehe~  
"Whoa!  This computer is going to take a bit getting use too.  It has Windows 7 first of all, and I'm still searching for where things are at.  I had to download all my programs that I need for transcribing one of which is Microsoft Office.  There was one that came with the computer, but only had a 60 day trial.  That's a bit much for me to handle all these new programs to figure out.  I'm just going to stick with what I'm use to for now.  It also came with a 425 day Norton.  That's very cool!  Before I downloaded all the pics and files I wanted from the old computer I made sure I ran a virus check on the flash drives before I put them here.  Then I downloaded my Gearplayer program I need to download my MP3 files (that's the form my jobs are in to download then I type them up). 

So, my new buddy found its new home.  What I have is a Hewlett Packard, e9200z, AMD Athlon (tm) II, X4 620 Processor,  2.60 GH z, and 4.00GB, 64-bit  operating system, and a HP Helpline.

Well, all - right!!!  So, I'm already to go blog hopping.  Careful I may blog my way straight to you!  LOL  HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Here's my question:  Do you remember back in the day when there were no computers?  All there was was TV or maybe a good book.  What did you do before computers?  What was your favorite TV show (prior to computers)?

Before computers I used a typewriter.  My favorite TV shows to name a few were Fame, Hill Street Blues, and the infamous Barney Miller.  That show cracked me up.

Well, I've been waiting and waiting for my HP to arrive, and it came at 10:36 a.m. this morning.  I guess I'll be busy for the next few days setting it up.  I was fortunate to get everything I wanted from my old computer, but before I transfer it I'll be running a virus scan for sure.  My blog we'll be shut down for a few days, but then...  watch me smoke baby!  I have so many things I want to post for you that I've been saving up.  I am sorry for all the confusion, and I hope you all come back to see me.  Have a great WW!  You're all wonderful.  Everybody's wonderful!  WOO HOO! When is your dad's birthday and what did you get him?

My dad is gone, but I can remember how difficult to buy for him was, but he always use to brag how his birthday was the same as Elvis Presley's.  LOL

Ya can't keep a good blogger down.  Isn't that what they say?  First & foremost  I want to thank all the people who felt my pain Wednesday (WW).  I'm so happy I have all these new friends to moan with me. lol   As I moped around the house because my husband was using his computer my goodness the things I found to do.  Shame on me!  Well, guess what?  There's a method to my madness and we're gonna get er' done.  I went through this place like the white tornado.  Just call me Mrs. Clean! All my dusting/polishing -- finished, windexing, vacuuming, drapes are washed, floors, and all the Christmas stuff is put away, stored, and the front room picture window is sparking clean from fingerprints, and tape.  WHEW!  So, hubby says the new computer is my reward for a job well done.  Guess what we ordered.  A brand spanking new HP for ME!  Should come Wednesday, maybe sooner.  I got an e-mail today saying it has been shipped.  WOO HOO!

WW - Computers are a pain in the - - -

My computer is going to drive me insane.  I've been working on it all day.  I cannot log on to my blog for some reason or another.  Something is wrong with Google.com it keeps telling me.  I should've known something was going wrong when I didn't see my followers anymore, but my daughter saw them on her computer.  So, I called up Comcast and argued with them for a while, and then they tell me to call computer support.  Well, HELLO -- guess who I got!  Now, I don't mean to offend anyone here, but I'm sorry I just can't understand them.  Guess I'll be taking old girl in for a check up -- then MYSELF!  I'm on my husband's computer for now to let all you know that if I don't lose all my marbles I'll be back & checking in periodically from here (or once my husband's go to bed).

Dear Lord:

Every single evening as I'm lying here in bed,

God bless all my family wherever they may be,

And God, there is one more thing I wish that you could do;

Now I know that it's unusual to bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second while I explain it to you, Lord.

You see, that little metal box holds more than odds and ends
inside those small compartments rest so many of my friends.
I know so much about them by the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal takes me in to where they live.

By faith is how I know them much the same as you.

I have to admit I have many happy moments, which is the birth of my grandchildren. Brianna, Dakota, Nicole, Lil' Jerry, Edward and my Shawn. Dang, my family's been busy! LOL Oh yes, and buying a new home, and the big weddings of my two beautiful daughters. Being as I was a single parent I got to give my oldest baby away, and my husband (step-father) gave my youngest baby away. Yes, a very busy decade indeed!
