VACATIONLAND, Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Virginia! PART I

Cracker Barrel for breakfast
The vacationing couple! We started out, and if you've been following along you know that we had nothing, but storms heading out. The road trip was very comfortable ride in our new car, but let me back track just a little. Before we left Dave made reservations at Best Western because I'm a member there, and I wanted points for our free night (eventually) for first stay in Williamsburg, Virginia near the Busch Gardens. The first time he did it through some company that charged his credit card twice. We deleted it, tried it again & they did it again. We deleted it once again & this time he booked it through Best Western with a very nice gentleman. Dave confirmed it 3x before we left, but when we got there (after 8:00 p.m.) the hotel was booked & the manager said because the man did not take Dave's credit card number they gave away our room. Tired, ticked, and no where to go we left. I suggested across the street & the only good thing was they had a room & it was $30 cheaper. I called Best Western from there & asked if they had a room available for the next 2 days & they did & I booked it.

Be careful what you wish for!
That's a giant wave from a splash down - he got drenched!
Busch Gardens is a lovely place, but very hilly. It does take a toll on the ol' legs, which my husband will tell you. He had bad shoes on, but the next day we went to Target & got him some comfortable ones, and he was good to go. I had a scooter everyday because of my back. I've got Spinal Stenosis. I couldn't make that hike all day! I didn't go on many rides, but I did go on the merry-go-round, and the white water rapids on the hottest day of the summer. 108 degrees, Virginia broke a record that day! We stayed there for 2 1/2 days. They have it broke off into countries there, and Italy was like an opera house, but they were closed while we were there, so sad. France was very pretty, but Switzerland was my favorite because of their big huge clock.

As you can see by this film poor Dave got soaked, but it wasn't so bad considering it was the hottest day of the year.
Part II shall follow.  "On the way to Kings Dominion - Ripley's Believe or Not!"

Love the pics. Bring back memories when we visited there when our boys were younger. They liked it so much that we went back the following year too.

I'm glad you had a scooter to help out so you could still enjoy the gardens.
